In addition to the weekly line up of culinary and drink-ary events, it's American Craft Beer Week. There are so many things to do, you're head will spin. Let's get to spinning.
Thursday, May 16
Cuban Dulceria International Bakery is hosting their 4th Annual Cuban Nostalgia event Thursday through Saturday. The three day event is for those "who remember the island's glamorous times and those who never experienced them" and will highlight the bakery's family recipes and some hard to find products. The party is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
Friday, May 17
Patriot PAWS is a group that provides service dogs to disabled veterans. This Friday they are hosting the 2nd Annual Grand Hall Summer Grill Out, which pits military veterans (who are now enrolled in the culinary school at the Art Institute of Dallas) in a Top Chef-style cook-off. All you'll need to do is show up from noon to 2 p.m. at 3838 West Miller Road in Garland and try the fare. Then, maybe buy a new grill from Barbecues Galore and all of the proceeds will go Patriot PAWS.
Saturday, May 18
The White Rock Local Market will be at the Green Spot this Saturday starting at 8 a.m.
Also, the Saint Michael's Farmers Market at 8011 Douglas is rolling again.
Coppell's Farmers Market is at 793 S. Coppell Road at Burns. Here's a little blog about what you can find at weekly at this farmer's market.
The Deep Ellum Outdoor Market is from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. In addition to local food and beverages, there's live music, local art, and general merriment.
The crew from LUCK, a soon-to-open locally focused restaurant that will be part of the Trinity Groves project, will host lunch at Martin House Brewing Co. in Fort Worth this Saturday starting at 2:00 p.m. It's part of the tour for the new brewery. It's ten bucks at the door.
Four Corners Brewing Co. is hosting a Local Flavor Showcase from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Tickets are $10, which includes a souvenir glass and 3 beer samples, plus there will be local food and live music.
SYNC Yoga and Wellbeing will answer all your questions about the importance of eating seasonally and locally in a 2-hour class this Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. There will be snacks and lots of talk about kale, we're sure. Class is $25 and find the details here.
Deep Ellum Brewing Co. will have a Pints 4 Paws puppy rescue fundraiser at the brewery at 4 p.m. this Saturday. This particular cause helps furry 4-legged friends make the trip home with troops after military tours. It's $25 per person and there will be a raffle and t-shirts and lots of "Who's-a-good-puppy?" going on.
The homebrew beer competition, Brew Riot, is this Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m. The amateurs-only brewing showdown starts with beer fueled 1.1 mile sprint to the Bishop Arts District, then it's samples out the ears.
TJ's Seafood Market on Oaklawn is holding a grilling demonstration at 2 p.m. The samples and cooking tips are free.
Wednesday, May 22
DISH Restaurant and Lounge will host a Caelum Winery dinner, who is celebrating their new U.S. distribution. The six-course dinner includes four Caelum wines, two from Las Perdices. The meal and pairings cost $95 per person. Call 214) 522-3474 or email jphoenix@Dish-Dallas.com.
