UPDATE: Holidays at risk as Coventry travel agent goes into ...

A TRAVEL agent with outlets across Coventry and Warwickshire has gone into administration.

Bowen Travel Group has shops in the Lower Precinct, city centre, as well as in Nuneaton, Rugby and Atherstone.

All branch managers were called to an emergency meeting in Loughborough yesterday morning and told to bring the keys to its 38 stores.

Staff have reportedly been made redundant with immediate effect and holidays booked with the firm are believed to be at risk.

The travel agency provides luxury cruises, coach holidays and day trips.

Insolvency specialist Deloitte is understood to have applied to the courts for an administration order.

It also operates three coach holiday brands ? Bowen?s, Appleby?s and York?s ? under umbrella brand BGT Travel.

One of those affected said: ?All the shop managers had to bring their keys to the premises.

?When they got to the meeting they were told administrators had been called in and they were selling off all the assets.

?Staff were told they had all been made redundant, there?s no redundancy pay and hotel operators haven?t been paid.

?They?ve been told to claim any redundancy from the government and were given the forms to do so.?

The Telegraph contacted the Bowen Travel Group yesterday.

Its website was then suspended and no-one at the company responded to our request for a comment.
