Before the big-blocks and the dragstrip terrors, Yenko Chevrolet offered a different kind of performance with the Corvair-based Stinger. In the May 2013 issue of Hemmings Classic Car (#104), Terry Shea and Richard Lentinello take a look at one of the rarest of those Yenko Corvairs, a one-off Stage IV built for Goodyear to test tires, which still sees track time today.
Also in this issue, we examine the way Detroit marketed and advertised its compact and economy cars through the years, we ride along with the original owner of a 226,000-mile 1971 Dodge Coronet Custom station wagon, Pat Foster presents several rarely seen Kaiser prototypes, and we follow along on a Hudson Italia restoration. All of this in addition to our regular Driveable Dreams, columns, and profiles.
On newsstands now, the May 2013 issue of Hemmings Classic Car is also available through Hemmings.com, in digital format or by calling 800-CAR-HERE (800-227-4373). Subscribe to Hemmings Classic Car now to start with this issue.
