A group of New Jersey employers have signed a ?wellness pledge? to promote health among their employees.
The New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute, the New Jersey Business and Industry Association and the New Jersey State Chamber of Commerce have joined state officials to ask businesses to join New Jersey?s? ?Workplace Wellness Campaign.? It?s modeled after another statewide program that convinced two-thirds of New Jersey city governments to offer regular fitness, nutrition and community-health activities.
The campaign aims to lower healthcare costs and encourages businesses to measure the results of their workplace wellness efforts.
Goal: 100,000 workers signed up by summer, and 1 million workers involved within five years.
Former Gov. James Florio recently noted that ?wellness programs work.? He said they save money and boost worker productivity, and has called them ?a no-brainer for corporate executives.?
