Razer Finally Updates DeathAdder PC Gaming Mouse

Razer's highly-popular PC gaming mouse has received its first upgrade since its original debut in 2006.

Razer said on Tuesday that it has finally upgraded the popular DeathAdder gaming mouse, ripping out the 2006 version's 3.5G optical sensor for a "cutting edge" 4G infrared sensor with improved performance and precision. This is the world's most powerful optical sensor, the company said, achieving up to 6400 dpi.

"Originally released in 2006, the Razer DeathAdder has become legendary for its combination of ergonomics and precision," the company said. "It remains the world's best-selling gaming mouse, used by countless pro gamers in the circuit as their preferred weapon of annihilation."

Razer said the DeathAdder's iconic right-handed shape has been retained (sorry South Paws), but the classic design has been enhanced with built-in textured rubber side grips for better mouse control and grip. It also measures approximately 5 x 2.76 x 1.73-inches (LxWxH) and weighs approximately 0.23 pounds.

"We didn't want to fix anything that wasn't broken," said Robert "RazerGuy" Krakoff, president of Razer USA. "We focused instead on enhancing and optimizing the proven merits of the Razer DeathAdder, utilizing next generation technologies and further ergonomics tweaks to make a perfect gaming mouse even better."

Additional features, according to this list of specs, include five independently programmable Hyperesponse buttons, a 1000 Hz Ultrapolling/1-ms response, on-the-fly sensitivity adjustment, 200 inches-per-second and 50G of acceleration, zero-acoustic Ultraslick mouse feet, a gold-plated USB connector and more. It's even Razer Synapse 2.0 enabled for effortless synching of settings and profiles automatically with the cloud.

The new and improved Razer DeathAdder 2013 is available now for $69.99 USD, and can be purchased straight from the company here. The older DeathAdder 2006 version is still on sale for $59.99, and there's even a version for left-handed PC gamers (also $59.99) right here.
