Blue Ridge School is a 501(c)3 entity that must comply with all reporting requirements from outside agencies that have authority over non-profit organizations. The Business Manager must oversee a $10M operating budget, ensure bond related debt is paid, and maintain oversight of a $13M endowment. The Business Manager will coordinate and communicate with the Advancement and Enrollment Offices.
The Business Manager must direct the daily operations of the Business Office. This includes preparing and maintaining Annual Operating Budget, checking account maintenance, petty cash, student account management, journal entries, A/R, and A/P. Supporting the HR Manager in the administration of payroll, benefits, and policy writing is also a key responsibility.
Qualifications: ? Bachelor?s degree in business administration, finance and accounting, or related field preferred ? Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Controller or Assistant CFO/Business Manager role ? Strong background in accounting, finance, budgeting, and cash management ? Previous leadership and supervisory experience ? Experience with non-profits or schools preferred ? Outstanding communication skills; regular, open communication with the Board of Trustees ? Advanced technology skills including Word, Outlook, Excel and database management software ? Ability to analyze and organize financial data ? Ability to develop and deliver presentations
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: ? Prepare and maintain Annual Operating Budget ? Prepare and publish monthly reporting requirements to the Finance Committee of the Board of Trustees ? Coordinate with Finance Committee and Chairman of Finance Committee as necessary ? Ensure compliance with all School policies and procedures related to employment and finances; oversee HR function of School with Human Resources Manager ? Ensure compliance with all regulations, laws, and policies of outside agencies, including TABS, NAIS, SACS, SSATB, VAIS & IBSC, and the Commonwealth of Virginia ? Manage all supplier and vendor contracts ? Conduct periodic RFPs for services and purchases ? Lead the initial planning and budgeting for all capital projects ? Facilitate the annual financial audit ? Ensure internal controls of Business Office are followed on a daily basis ? Make certain all monthly reconciliations occur on time and discrepancies are reported and corrected immediately ? Manage delinquent accounts in accordance with School policy ? Coordinate with Advancement Office to ensure proper recording of gifts and pledges ? Assist Enrollment Office with enrollment contract process ? Teach one trimester elective or coach one season of sports ? Demonstrate continued professional curiosity and growth ? Participate on weekday and weekend duty teams

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 70% sitting, 20% walking, and 10% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
