Japanese carmaker Nissan Motor plans to increase its luxury brand Infiniti dealerships and showrooms in China to as many as 140-150 from the current 60 over the next four years.
The move is part of the company's plan to further make inroads into the nation's luxury car market.
Nissan China Infiniti business unit general manager Allen Lu said they will be building mostly full-service dealerships in smaller cities but will open some small outlets in major cities like Beijing.
To showcase the latest Infiniti concept cars, Nissan opened an Infiniti flagship plus store in Beijing on 6 July 2012.
Another thee outlets are expected to be open in Chengdu, Guangzhou and Shanghai, Lu added.
Chief executive officer Carlos Ghosn said on May 22 that the company aims to increase the brand sales in China by 50% in 2012.
The company has even established Infiniti's headquarters in Hong Kong in May 2012 to boost sales in the country.
In 2011, Nissan sold around 19,000 units of Infiniti's in China, an increase of 40%, making the nation the second major market after the US.
