Spaces available for UNH camps

The University of New Hampshire men's soccer program has announced that spaces are still available for its annual residential camp and advanced day camp this summer.

The Soccer Dimensions residential camp will be held July 29 to Aug. 2 at UNH. The camp is directed by UNH men's soccer coach Rob Thompson, and current Wildcat players will assist a nationally licensed staff. The cost is $590 and is open to boys ages 9-18. Specialized goalkeeper training and team discounts are available.

The advanced day camp will be held at the Seacoast United field complex in Epping on July 16-19 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Spaces are still open to boys and girls ages 8-12. The cost is $255 per participant and each player will receive a Nike T-shirt and a Nike soccer ball.

Maloney Memorial Golf Classic July 27

GREENLAND ? The first Chief Michael Maloney Memorial Golf Classic will be held Friday, July 27 at Breakfast Hill Golf Club in Greenland.

All proceeds from the event will go directly to the Chief Michael Maloney Memorial Fund to support C.O.P.S. (Concerns of Police Survivors), wounded officers, law enforcement scholarships, general education scholarships and community needs.

The tournament will begin at 7:15 a.m. with the first flight of golfers teeing off followed by the second flight teeing off at approximately 1:15 p.m.

Integrity Hoops basketball camp

Integrity Hoops will be offering comprehensive youth basketball camps this summer designed to improve the overall athlete with an additional focus on strength and agility development. The camps will begin June 18 and run for eight weeks. Grades 3-12 are welcome and will be split up based upon age and skill level.

Seacoast United tryout dates

Seacoast United Soccer Club will hold tryouts on the following dates:

U11-12 boys and girls: June 11 and 13; U13-14 boys: June 12 and 14; U13-14 girls: June 18 and 19; U15-18 girls: June 21 and 25; U15-18 boys: July 9 and 11.

All tryouts will be held at the Epping Outdoor Complex. Check in is at 4:30 p.m. with tryouts 5 to 7 p.m. each night.

Players should bring a ball, water, and be dressed ready to play. Cost of tryouts is $20 and includes SUSC T-shirt.

Newfields 5K on June 23

NEWFIELDS ? The 14th annual Newfields 5K road race and Children's Fun Run will be held on Saturday, June 23. The race starts and ends in the Deer Trees neighborhood at 9 a.m. with the children's fun run starting at 8:30 a.m.

Stratham Fair Road Race on July 21

The 39th annual Stratham Fair Road Race is scheduled for Saturday, July 21.

The race starts at 8:30 a.m. with registration and number pick up from 7 to 8 a.m. The cost to register is $15 for a single pre-entry runner and $20 for day of registration. The first 125 people to register will receive a T-shirt.

The top three finishers in each age group will receive prizes.

Two hockey camps offered at UNH

Chabot's Specialized Hockey School in Durham will be offering two camps at the University of New Hampshire's Whittemore Center this summer.

The first camp, a specialized defensemen and forwards program, will run Aug. 13-17 for boys and girls ages 7-14, along with a goalie program for ages 7-16.

The second camp, a shooting and scoring program and goalie program for ages 15-17, will run Aug. 20-22.

Exeter Post 32 Legion tryouts

The Exeter Post 32 American Legion baseball teams will hold tryouts for the upcoming season on June 10 at 1 p.m., June 11 at 5:30 p.m. and June 12 at 5:30 p.m. at Exeter High School's varsity baseball field. New Hampshire American Legion baseball is a wood bat league, so please be ready to use a wood bat at tryouts. Some wood bats will be available for use if you do not have one.

Post 32 draws players from the following schools: Exeter, Phillips Exeter Academy, Newmarket, Epping and Winnacunnet, as well as students from other private schools.

Kittery seeks cheerleading coaches

Kittery Youth Cheerleading, a non-profit competitive cheer program, is seeking experienced coaches for the 2012-13 competition season. These are volunteer positions.

The season runs from August to April. Coaches are responsible for developing and directing practices, choreographing routines and preparing for competitions. Candidates must have experience with all-star competitive cheering and familiarity with larger cheer groups.

Exeter Parks offers youth golf camp

EXETER ? The Exeter Parks and Recreation Department, with the partnership of Exeter Country Club, will offer a local golf camp for boys and girls between the ages of 8 and 14 this summer.

The camp will teach the elements of golf from rules and etiquette, short games and long games as well as course management.

The first session will run June 26-28 from 9 to 11 a.m., while the second session will run July 10-12 from 9 to 11 a.m.

The Portsmouth Recreation Department has openings for teams in the following summer basketball leagues: adult men, adult women, and boys junior high.

Portsmouth Youth Football registration

Portsmouth Youth Football Association registration is open for the 2012 season. Players entering grades 1-8 from Portsmouth, Greenland, Newington, New Castle and Rye are eligible to participate. Registration is online only. Registration period closes June 30.

Four football programs are offered: Youth Flag (grades 1-2, $50 registration); Youth Tackle (grades 3-4, $100 registration and $400 uniform deposit); Little Clippers (grades 5-6, $150 registration, $400 uniform deposit and $50 volunteer deposit); and Junior Clippers (grades 7-8, $150 registration, $400 uniform deposit and $50 volunteer deposit).

All uniforms and protective equipment (helmet, shoulder pads, girdle and mouth guard) are provided by PYFA.

Completed forms and refundable deposit(s) must be mailed to Portsmouth Youth Football, PO Box 4357, Portsmouth, NH 03802-4357 prior to the start of the season. Equipment will not be issued without completed online registration, completed forms and payment of all fees and deposits. At the end of the football season, equipment deposit and volunteer check will be returned upon receipt of equipment and completion of volunteer duties.

STA boys basketball camp

St. Thomas Aquinas High School will host the third annual Sum-R-Serious Boys Basketball Camp, July 30-Aug. 3 from 8 to 10 a.m. on Dover Point Road in Dover.

Run by St. Thomas boys basketball coaches and recent STA graduates, the camp is open to boys currently in grades 5-8. The cost is $40 per person and includes a T-shirt, a water bottle and expert instruction. Family discounts and carpooling available.

The deadline to register is Monday, July 16. Space is limited.

Portsmouth Christian Academy at Dover will be hosting sport camps this summer for boys and girls ages 8-14. All campers will receive a camp T-shirt and a bonus item.

All camps run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and are $165. Soccer camp will be July 9-13 or July 16-20. Basketball camp will run from July 23-27. Girls volleyball camp will run from Aug. 6-10.

Booma Post 6 Legion tryouts

PORTSMOUTH ? Booma Post 6 will be holding American Legion baseball tryouts on Saturday, June 9; Sunday, June 10; and (if necessary) Sunday, June 17 from 9 a.m. to noon at Leary Field in Portsmouth.

  • Attack the Rim Basketball Camp: July 9-13 at Portsmouth High School. For boys and girls entering grades 6-8. Fee: $95. Professional basketball staff will focus on bringing together offensive techniques to help players increase their scoring ratios.
  • Catch Me If You Can ? Speed and Agility Conditioning Camp: July 23-27 and/or Aug. 6-10 at Clough Field. For boys and girls entering grades 6-8. Fee: $95. Camp for athletes in all sports looking to move better, quicker and more efficiently.

Seacoast Indoor Tennis summer program

The Seacoast Indoor Tennis Club in North Hampton has announced plans for its 2012 summer tennis program. The program includes tournaments, round robins for men, women and mixed doubles, lessons and clinics for players of all levels, and a junior program for new and experienced young players.

Marshwood summer basketball camps

Marshwood High School will host separate basketball camps for girls and boys this summer. The girls camp will run from June 18-22 and from June 25-29. The boys camp will run from July 16-20 and from July 23-27. Both camps are held at Marshwood High School.

The cost of each camp is $60 per week with additional family members paying half price. Varsity coaches Lee Petrie (girls) and Mike Zamarchi (boys) will run the respective camps along with current and former members of the Marshwood teams. Skills will be built through drills, lectures and games and there is always an emphasis on teamwork and fun. York County Basketball Camp

The York County Basketball Camp will run from July 9-13 at Marshwood High School. Varsity coaches Lee Petrie and Mike Zamarchi will run the camp along with current and former Marshwood players. This is open to all area boys and girls entering grades 4-9. Coaches teach skills through the use of drills, games, lectures and guest speakers. Students play on teams throughout the week, and participate in drill stations as well as contests and games.

Kittery Recreation sports camps signups

KITTERY, Maine ? The Kittery Recreation Dept. is now accepting registrations for its summer sports camps.

  • Pee Wee Basketball Camp (July 9-13). This camp is aimed at the beginner basketball player, ages 4-5. It will run daily from 9 to 10 a.m. and costs $30.
  • K-2 Basketball Camp (July 9-13). This camp is aimed at the beginner basketball player in grades K-2. This camp will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. and costs $50.
  • 3rd & 4th Grade Basketball Camp (July 9-13). This camp is aimed at the basketball player who may have some basketball experience but wishes to learn more. This camp will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and costs $60.
  • 5th-8th Grade Basketball Camp (July 16-20). This camp is aimed at the more experienced player looking to improve on his/her skills. This camp will be instructed by Traip's varsity boys coach, Jeremy Paul. The price of this camp is $130 for the first child and $200 for a family. Camp will be held at the Kittery Community Center from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Pre K-8th Grade Summer Soccer Camp (July 23-27). Seacoast United Soccer Club will conduct this weeklong camp from 4 to 7 p.m. Register at www.seacoastunited.org.

Seacoast Half Marathon registration open

Registration for the 7th annual Seacoast Half Marathon is now open. The 13.1-mile road race will register 1,500 runners and competitive walkers for the event that takes place on Sunday, Nov. 11. As in past years, the start and finish will be at Portsmouth High School.

Registration can be done online at www.seacoasthalfmarathon.com or in person at any Runner's Alley store in downtown Portsmouth, Manchester or Nashua. Printable entry forms are available online as well. Race organizers suggest early registration, as the field is limited to 1,500 athletes and each year the race sells out by mid-August.


Benefit golf tournament in York

The Richie McFarland Children's Center will hold its 20th annual RICHIE Golf Tournament on Thursday, June 7 with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. at the Ledges Golf Club in York, Maine.

Entry Fee is $170 per player or $700 for a foursome; the fee includes green fee, cart, gift, boxed lunch and dinner buffet. Many raffle prizes will be available along with a silent auction during dinner. There will be contests throughout the day, including Beat the Pro, Putting Contest, Closest to the Pin and Hole in One.

All proceeds from the golf tournament will help keep RMCC programs strong and build brighter futures for more than 380 families a year.

Exeter Rec. offers Red Sox trips

EXETER ? The Exeter Recreation Department is offering five bus trips to see the Boston Red Sox play this season, including games at Fenway Park, Yankee Stadium, Camden Yards in Baltimore, and Rogers Centre in Toronto.

The games at Fenway Park include June 22 against the Atlanta Braves and July 20 against the Toronto Blue Jays. Cost for each game is $80, which includes round-trip bus and right field box seat. Buses are scheduled to leave Exeter at 4 p.m.

The game at Yankee Stadium is Saturday, Aug. 18 and cost is $159 for round-trip bus and outfield grandstand ticket or $179 for round-trip bus and infield ticket. Bus is scheduled to leave Portsmouth at 8:30 a.m.

The trip to Baltimore is scheduled for Aug. 14-16. Trip includes round-trip bus transportation, tickets in upper level behind home plate to Tuesday and Wednesday night games, and two nights at Sheraton City Center, just three blocks from Camden Yards. Cost is $599 for single occupancy, $379 per person double occupancy, $329 per person triple occupancy and $299 per person quad occupancy.

The trip to Toronto is scheduled for June 1-4. Trip includes round-trip bus transportation, field level tickets to Saturday and Sunday games, one night at Hilton Niagara Falls and two nights at Courtyard Marriott in downtown Toronto. Cost is $849 for single occupancy, $599 per person double occupancy, $589 per person triple occupancy and $559 per person quad occupancy.
